Traveled April 2026

Bus
I only took the bus once in San Antonio, from downtown to near the Pearl. It came pretty quickly, and moved pretty quickly.
The nicest part was the Upcoming Station display on the bus, which was pretty extensive, and gave estimates for arrival at the next six stops.

Boats
I would have ridden more buses, but the River Walk was fantastic, and I found myself wandering up and down it for a couple hours.
San Antonio has an extensive network of paved paths on either side of the San Antonio river, extending several miles in total. It was a delight to walk.

There are some boats on the river. I didnāt ride them. One looked like a longer distance hourly shuttle, and closer to downtown there were what looked like tourist boats.

Tickets
I bought a day pass with the Via Go app, though I didnāt get full value out of it. But thatās fine, happy to support local transit where Iām visiting.
The Via Go Mobile + app (why the long name?) was easier to use than the average app. It didnāt make me go through a lengthy signup, and let me use Apple Pay.
I downloaded the app and bought my pass while walking to the bus, with plenty of time to spare.
